A Black Disabled Woman’s Story of Mental Health Trauma and False Promises: Surviving Atlanta

🏛️ The Corporate Illusion: How America Got Rich While the Poor Got Left Behind

✊🏾 “Until America stops valuing profits over people, there will always be a divide — and it will always hit the most vulnerable first.”

Corporate Wealth vs. Human Survival

America praises “hard work” — but the truth is, corporate America keeps getting richer while everyday people are left behind.

The wealth gap isn’t just economic; it’s moral. It’s the difference between being able to see a doctor and being forced to suffer in silence.

While billion-dollar companies enjoy tax breaks and bailouts, disabled and low-income people fight to survive on less than $1,000 a month. For those of us on Social Security Disability (SSDI) or SSI, the system is built like a trap:

  • Earn too much? Lose your benefits.

  • Earn too little? You live in poverty.

It’s not laziness — it’s systemic oppression disguised as policy.

🏥 The Healthcare System Was Never Designed for Us

Healthcare in America isn’t healthcare — it’s a business. And when you’re poor, Black, or disabled, the system doesn’t see you as a person; it sees you as a cost.

I’ve sat in hospital rooms where patients were treated like inconveniences. I’ve seen people denied medication because their insurance “wouldn’t cover it.”

Meanwhile, healthcare CEOs earn millions in bonuses for cutting costs — meaning cutting care.

People die waiting for appointments. People go without medication because they can’t afford the copay. People with mental health conditions are turned away because there are “no beds available.”

That’s not a system failure — that’s a system working as intended.

🏚️ The Myth of “Resources” for the Poor

We hear politicians talk about “helping the poor,” but those programs are often underfunded, overregulated, and humiliating.

You have to prove your poverty over and over again — with paperwork, interviews, and endless verification.

Housing lists stretch for years. Mental health clinics have waitlists months long. Food stamps run out before the end of the month.

Yet corporations get tax credits for “philanthropy” when they donate pennies on the dollar.

It’s not a lack of resources — it’s a lack of political will and compassion.

💡 Why I Speak Out

As a Black disabled woman and business owner, I built Afrinubi Solutions® to be more than a brand — it’s a statement of survival, culture, and advocacy.

I know what it’s like to be silenced by systems that were never built for people like us. That’s why I use my platform — from Vloggin’ Therapy on YouTube to my community work — to raise awareness about the inequalities that corporate America tries to hide.

We deserve more than survival. We deserve equity, dignity, and opportunity.

⚖️ A Call to Awareness & Action

Ask yourself:

  • Why do billionaires pay less in taxes than working-class families?

  • Why is healthcare a privilege instead of a right?

  • Why are disabled people punished for trying to earn an honest living?

Until these questions are answered with justice, we’ll keep seeing the same cycles of struggle — poverty, sickness, exploitation.

But I believe awareness can lead to action. Because when people wake up, change becomes possible.
