Mental Hospital Torture at Peachford Hospital Atlanta - I Was Mistreated and Silenced — But Not Anymore

I never thought I’d have to write something like this, but my experience at Peachford Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, was one of the most traumatic things I’ve ever been through.
What was supposed to be a safe place for mental health treatment turned into a nightmare that left me shaken and deeply disappointed in a system that’s supposed to help people heal.
I’m sharing this story through Afrinubi Solutions® and Vloggin’ Therapy because too many people stay silent after being mistreated. I want others to know they’re not alone — and that speaking up is the first step toward real change.
Inside Peachford Hospital — What I Experienced
From the start, the energy was cold and unsettling. Staff seemed detached and careless. I witnessed a staff member slap a patient, and no one said a word. That image still sticks with me.
As for me, I was treated in ways that no one should ever experience. Because I have diabetes, I need specific foods to stay stable. Peachford ignored that completely. I was so hungry that I actually ate out of a garbage can just to have something in my system. That’s how little care they gave.
Then came the medication — drugs I shouldn’t have been given, and an injection with a substance I was never told about. I didn’t give consent. No explanation. Just a shot. That’s terrifying and dangerous.
When I was finally released, I realized my personal belongings were stolen — including a dashiki that was special to me. When I brought it up, they brushed me off like it didn’t matter. That’s not care. That’s cruelty.
I’m Not the Only One
After I got out, I started reading reviews online and found out that my experience wasn’t unique. Peachford Hospital has a 2.0-star rating on Google, and the reviews were full of similar horror stories:
People are being woken up by needles and forced to take medication without consent.
Neglect during seizures and medical emergencies.
Poor hygiene conditions, with patients using hand soap to bathe and no access to proper toiletries.
Missing belongings, disrespectful staff, and patients being kept longer to bill insurance companies.
People are sleeping on thin mats, eating inedible food, and receiving almost no real therapy.
This isn’t a few bad days — it’s a pattern of neglect and inhumanity. And many of these patients are people with disabilities, or those on Medicaid or Medicare, who are often taken advantage of because they have fewer resources and less support.
This Isn’t Mental Health Care — It’s Exploitation
It breaks my heart that a place claiming to provide mental health treatment operates this way. Hospitals like this are supposed to help you recover, not traumatize you. They’re supposed to show compassion, not control.
No one should go into a mental health facility and come out feeling worse, silenced, or violated. That’s not care. That’s exploitation.
Why I’m Speaking Up
I made a video and wrote this blog to tell the truth about my experience. This isn’t about revenge — it’s about accountability. It’s about raising awareness so that others can protect themselves and demand better care.
If you or someone you know is seeking mental health treatment, please do your research before choosing a facility. Read reviews, ask questions, and don’t assume every place that says it’s for “healing” actually is.
If you’ve gone through something similar:
File a complaint with the Georgia Department of Community Health.
Contact patient rights organizations or advocacy groups that can help.
Speak up if you can — your story matters, and it could help someone else avoid the same pain.
Final Thoughts
What happened to me at Peachford Hospital was inhumane, wrong, and unforgettable. But instead of letting it silence me, I’m using it to speak louder — for myself and for every person who’s been mistreated and ignored by the mental health system.
We deserve better. We deserve compassion. We deserve real mental health care.
Because healing should never come with humiliation.
